Ruka Nordic's cancelled Ski Jumping competition race will be rescheduled in Lahti
In Ruka Nordic, the individual competition for the FIS Ski Jumping World Cup cancelled due to the stormy wind will be rescheduled during the Lahti Ski Games weekend. The race is scheduled for Friday to replace the Qualification.
On Sunday, December 1st, at Ruka Nordic was unable to compete in the second FIS Ski Jumping World Cup competition due to stormy winds. The competition was cancelled due to the inability to guarantee the equal and safe conditions for all athletes.
Discussions of the rescheduling the race in Lahti started immediately and the International Ski Federation (FIS) confirmed the competition to Salpausselkä today on Friday. The race will take place at 28th of February.
"It is very important for the Finnish Ski Association to have a substitute competition in Lahti. The solution and the result is good for the Ski Association," says Ismo Hämäläinen, Executive Director of the Ski Association.
The Ski Association is pleased with the quick solution that resulted from the cooperation.
"We would like to thank the organization of the Lahti Ski Games, the International Ski Association and the media rights holder Infront Sports & Media for their good spirit in negotiating this. Everyone had a common goal that was achieved in a timely manner," continues Hämäläinen.
According to the new schedule, two personal competitions and a team event will be jumped in Lahti. Personal competitions are on Friday and Sunday, team event on Saturday. Qualifying for Sunday's race on the Sunday before the race.
