Scandinavian Cup

Scandinavian Cup

Scandinavian Cup is a part of the worldwide FIS series for young and developing athletes, the FIS Cross-Country Continental Cup. Races belonging to the FIS Scandinavian Cup are held in Finland, Norway, Sweden, Estonia and Latvia. Only the nationals of the said countries may compete for the overall win of the cup. However, also athletes from other countries have a right to participate in the individual competitions.

The significance of the Scandinavian Cup is ever more increasing, and participating in the Scandinavian Cup races is an excellent way to gain international experience. As the races are of high level, they act as valid indicators of the athlete's personal development. Moreover, the winners of the Scandinavian Cup may acquire a right to participate in some of the FIS World Cup races. For example, the overall winners of the Scandinavian Cup may acquire the right to participate in the season's last Worl Cup period (in March), and their accommodation and travelling costs are covered as those of the athletes competing in the seeded group. Consequently, the Scandinavian Cup is the second best place for showing one's abilities to compete on the international level.
